We recommend all adult pets receive annual examinations and that senior pets receive a thorough physical examination every 6-12 months. During these examinations, we will assess your pet's body condition and make dietary and exercise recommendations to help your pet maintain its ideal body weight. In addition we will carefully assess the health of your pet's teeth and gums, as dental disease can be a significant problem for senior pets (read more information regarding dental care for your pet). We will also update you pet on any vaccinations he/she may require.

New puppy / Kitten

We love puppies and kittens, and can't wait to meet the newest addition to your family. Please bring your new pet in for an office visit as soon as you can after you bring him/her home.

Vaccinations

Vaccination is a key component of disease prevention in your pet, and both dogs and cats need annual vaccinations. At your pet's annual checkup, we will discuss the vaccinations with you and innoculate your pet. For more information please visit our vaccinations page.

Parasite prevention

Even healthy pets are at risk of acquiring an infection with parasites. Common parasites are heartworm, fleas and ticks.   Most of these are easy to prevent and we recommend that pets are kept on heartworm and flea prevention all year round.  We also recommend pets be given a seasonal tick prevention (Early Spring through Late Fall). Annual testing for heartworm disease in dogs is highly recommended.   In accordance with the Center for Disease Control (CDC), we recommend twice a year fecal or stool checks for intestinal parasites for both dogs and cats.   We carry a variety of the highest-quality parasite preventatives available.  They come in monthly chewable tablets or topical solutions. All of these preventions are easily administered to your pet and go a long way in keeping your pet healthy.

Common parasites are:  heartworm, fleas, ticks and intestinal worms.  Many heartworm preventative medicines and flea protection products also protect your pet from intestinal worms.  Your veterinarian will discuss these products and their treatments with you at your pet’s annual exam.

Please give us a call today so that your pet will be protected.
