How will I know if my pet has dental disease?
The first sign is often bad breath, you may also notice redness along the gum line, tartar, calculus, or they may be eating slower or more carefully than they used to. Periodontal disease is the most common ailment of small animals. This begin when bacteria accumulates at the gum line around the tooth. Unless brushed away daily, these bacteria can cause inflammation, bleeding, and if untreated, can cause tooth and/or bone loss.
As part of our Wellness care, we will evaluate your pet's teeth and will recommend an oral healthcare plan. If you notice any signs of tooth pain, tooth loss or disease in your pet, please call us immediately. If a dental cleaning and oral examination is necessary, general anesthesia is required.
Ultrasonic scaling is used to clean each tooth thoroughly above and below the gum line. The teeth are polished to create a smooth surface that is more resistant to plaque buildup.
Please give us a call today to schedule your pet's dental exam.
